Chou Guide

Marshall Law from Tekken and Fei Long from Street Fighters are based on the legendary Bruce Lee. If you are a fan of them, you would definitely love Chou from Mobile Legends as well!

Chou’s deadly punches and kicks are fearsome but with wrong gears, he might not shine optimally. Fret not though as this guide will provide essential information on how to maximise Chou’s potential, thereby increasing your chances of victory!

This guide consists of 3 sections namely Item Build Types, Emblem and Abilities, and In-game Strategy. Understand them well and you will become a Chou pro in no time!

Item Build Types

As you can see from the picture above, this guide has given 3 different types of item build for Chou. The sequence of what items you should get for each build starts from left to right.

For example, under the Balanced Build, Warrior Boots should be obtained first followed by Blade of Destruction and so on.  If you are a new player, you might want to try the Balanced Build as a warm up.

Read further to get a more in-depth understanding of the different types of build.

Tank

Warrior Boots – Adds 22 Armor and 40 Movement Speed. Unique Ability increases Chou’s Physical Defense by 3 points with each basic attack received, and can stack up to a total of 15 points (Effect lasts for 3 seconds).

This item has the balanced properties of Movement Speed and Armor which is suited for Chou. It allows Chou to have decent mobility without the reliance of his Shunpo or when it is in cooldown.

Immortality – Increases HP by 800 and Magic Resistance by 40. Unique Ability enables resurrection 2 seconds after dying and Chou will get 15% HP with a shield that can absorb 300 - 1000 points of damage.

Shield lasts for 3 seconds and the cooldown for resurrection is 3 minutes. Other than providing death insurance, this item allows Chou to dish out another set of crowd control skill upon revival to aid allies during team fights.

Tooth of Greed – Increases Physical Attack by 70. Unique Ability grants 20% Lifesteal and when HP drops below 40%, Chou will receive additional 10% Physical Lifesteal.

Getting Lifesteal early enables Chou to stay in lane longer. It also makes the difference in early 1-to-1 battles when it comes to survivability and winning the duel!

Cursed Helmet – Increases HP by 920 and Magic Resistance by 50. Unique Ability will deal 2% of Chou’s max HP as Magic Damage per second to nearby enemies.

The increases in HP and Magic Resistance make Chou more durable, which increases his survivability in team fights/clashes. Furthermore, since Chou is rather Tanky at this point in time, the effect of Cursed Helmet will do substantial amount of damage to enemies.

Saint’s Refuge – Increases 900 HP and 56 Magic Resistance. Unique Ability allows the generation of a shield every 30 seconds, which absorbs 450 – 1150 damage (Shield effect increases as battle goes on).

On top of packing more HP, the increase in Magic Resistance makes Chou less vulnerable to Magic Attacks. This means that he will become a headache to enemies if targeted as it will not be easy to kill him.

Bloodthirsty King – Increases HP by 1550 and HP Regen by 75. Unique Ability regens 20% of Chou’s max HP within 5 seconds if a kill or assist is achieved.

The final additional to complete Chou’s tankiness, making him almost invulnerable to death.

Burst

Warrior Boots – Adds 22 Armor and 40 Movement Speed. Unique Ability increases Chou’s Physical Defense by 3 points with each basic attack received, and can stack up to a total of 15 points (Effect lasts for 3 seconds).

This item has the balanced properties of Movement Speed and Armor which is suited for Chou. It allows Chou to have decent mobility without the reliance of his Shunpo or when it is in cooldown.

Blade of Destruction – Increases Physical Attack by 70 and Critical Strike by 20%. Unique Ability causes Critical Damage to increase by 50%.

Critical Strikes will also increase Chou’s Physical Attack by 5%, lasting for 2 seconds. This item can allow Chou to almost instantly KO enemies during Critical Strikes when his passive (additional 200% damage) kicks in!

Thor’s Sting – Increases Attack Speed by 30%, Movement Speed by 8% and Critical Strike Chance by 20%. Unique Ability – After every 5 basic attacks, the next basic attack will deal 125 Magic Damage to 3 enemies, and raises Chou's Movement Speed by 5% for a short time.

This item allows Chou to farm faster due to the AOE Magic Damage effect. The increase in Critical Strike Chance raises the possibility of landing even deadlier punches/kicks.

Blade of Destruction – Increases Physical Attack by 70 and Critical Strike by 20%. Unique Ability causes Critical Damage to increase by 50%.

Blade of Despair – Increases Physical Attack by 130, Attack Speed by 25% and Critical Strike Chance by 10%. Unique Ability deals additional 10% of damage to enemies in any abnormal state (stunned, knocked airborne, transformed and disabled).

Emblems and Abilities

This guide recommends either the Physical Emblem Set or Jungle Emblem Set for Chou. For beginners, the Physical Emblem Set will suffice.

For seasoned players, it is recommended to use the Jungle Emblem Set. The main reason for Jungle Emblem Set is the Attack Speed bonus it gives to Yun Chou.

Higher Attack Speed means more punches and kicks to enemies within a fixed length of time. This translates into greater overall damage being dealt.

For Battle Spells/Abilities, this guide recommends “Purify” (For newbies to escape abnormal status), “Retribution” (For quicker farming) and “Flicker” for seasoned players. “Flicker” complements Chou’s Shunpo, allowing him to manoeuvre with greater flexibility and making him more elusive to enemies.

In-game Strategy

Early into the game, ensure that Chou is not feeding carelessly. Get buffs from jungle monsters after clearing wave of enemy minions near own tower.

Upon reaching level 4, try to catch enemy heroes when they get near your tower. Shunpo your way towards enemy hero and unleash The Way of Dragon to kick him/her back towards your tower.

If done correctly, your tower will provide heavy support fire while the enemy hero is taking your kicks in the air. It is almost always a guaranteed kill that way; perfect!

Due to Chou’s passive, he is able to destroy towers fast with powerful blows. And once you have destroyed an enemy tower in your lane, go provide assistance to other lanes.

If you think you are relatively stronger than enemy heroes, consider hunting for them in their side of the jungle. Remember the combination of stun punching first before dealing The Way of Dragon towards your allies’ direction.

Pre-team clashes, make sure Chou’s Jeet Kune Do has been used twice first so that he can Shunpo/Flicker in to knock enemy heroes up into the air during the clash. Doing so will disable enemy heroes for a short period which gives ample time for your allies to have a first-mover advantage to attack.
